THE 16TH ANNUAL HAYTI HERITAGE FILM FESTIVAL IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS!!!
The St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation, Hayti Heritage Center will host the 16th Annual Hayti Heritage Film Festival February 18 – 21, 2009 in Durham, NC. Formerly known as the Black Diaspora Film Festival, the Hayti Heritage Film Festival is recognized as one of the oldest black film festivals in the nation. The goal of the Hayti Heritage Film Festival is to showcase works made by and/or about people of African descent including those of Latin origin, the Caribbean, Africa, etc. The festival is open to domestic and international filmmakers. And in recent years, the festival has expanded to include competition categories as well as a student component.
Filmmakers are encouraged to apply and submit films now through January 16, 2009. Films may be of any genre including drama, comedy, horror, adventure, animation, romance, experimental, or science fiction.
All films submitted and accepted to the festival must have been completed after January 1st, 2008 and are eligible for competition in the following categories: Best Long Form (narrative/documentary), Best Short Film (narrative/documentary), Best Acting Ensemble, Audience Choice, and Best Student Film.
All films, applications, and fees must be received no later than Monday, January 18, 2009 for eligibility. Current students must provide proof of status (i.e. current transcript or college id). Filmmakers accepted to the festival will receive two all-access passes which include admittance to all films, panel discussions, opening and closing receptions, and awards ceremony.
